Minister of Finance and Planning, Moosa Zameer, paid an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman and held an official meeting today with H.E. Sultan bin Salim bin Said Al Habsi, Minister of Finance of Oman.
During the meeting, the two Ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral trade and expand economic cooperation. Discussions focused on increasing trade flows and capitalising on synergies in the maritime and fishing industries, including opportunities linked to maritime services, value chains, and related commercial activity.
The Ministers also discussed opportunities for collaboration on energy projects in the Maldives, including potential areas of partnership to support national development priorities.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to further enhance cooperation across other economic sectors of mutual interest.
Oman remains Maldives’ largest trading partner, primarily due to fuel imports, and the meeting highlighted the importance of maintaining and developing this longstanding economic relationship.
The Ministry of Finance and Planning will continue engagements with Oman to advance shared priorities and support stronger trade, investment and project-based cooperation.
