The Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises welcomes Mr. Hassan Zareer as the newly appointed Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises. Minister Zareer was appointed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on 8 June 2026. Minister Zareer brings over two decades of experience in finance, taxation, auditing, and compliance. Throughout his career, he has held several senior positions, including Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation and Commissioner General of Taxation. Most recently, he served as Director of Finance (Group Shared Financial Services) and Group Chief Compliance Officer at Villa Shipping and Trading Company Pvt. Ltd. He also served as Chairman of the Bank of Maldives from 7 March 2024 to 23 May 2024. Senior officials and staff extended their congratulations and best wishes to Minister Zareer as he assumes leadership of the Ministry and continues efforts to strengthen public finance management, fiscal sustainability, and public enterprise reform.
