Ministry of Finance and Treasury Representatives Participate in the AIIBs Chief Negotiators Meeting

Hon. Arif Hilmy (Senior Advisor to the Minister of Finance and Treasury) and Mr. Ashraf Rasheed (Legal Consultant) will be attending the upcoming Chief Negotiators meeting which is held at Mumbai, India on 15th January 2015 as representatives of the Government of Maldives.

The Government of Maldives has being accepted as the 23rd Prospective Founding Member of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on 31st December 2014.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is an international financial institution proposed by China. The purpose of the multilateral development bank is to provide finance to infrastructure projects in the Asia Pacific region.

Currently the founding members of AIIB are Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Maldives.
