Maldives hosted Fifth Asian Regional Public Debt Management Forum

The 5th Asian Regional Public Debt Management Forum was held at Paradise Island Resort, Maldives from 21-23 April 2015. The three-day Forum, organized by the Asian Development Bank, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Treasury was an opportunity for debt managers in the region to share experiences and establish regional and international networks. The forum was inaugurated by the Minister of Finance and Treasury, Honorable Mr Abdulla Jihad, and the Vice President of ADB, Honorable Mr Thierry de Longuemar.

 

The forum was attended by senior officials from public debt offices, ministries of finance, central banks of developed and developing countries in Asia and the Pacific, and selected representatives of banks and other financial institutions, as speakers and delegates. 102 Participants from 38 different countries, and 20 local participants from various government agencies attended the forum.

 

The Forum aimed to contribute to the strengthening of public debt and risk management of ADB member countries, and to promote networking among public debt managers in the region. It was an opportunity for government debt managers to exchange views with their counterparts from across the region, and discuss developments on issues related to public debt and risk management.
