In light of financial difficulties faced by Maldivian students abroad due to COVID-19, the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) is providing financial assistance to secure their essential needs.
Students who are currently studying abroad and had their course financing negatively affected or interrupted due to COVID-19 may be eligible for this aid if all conditions are met (refer to the guideline below). While this program is not aimed at students on government scholarships or national student loans, these students who are financially constrained and have completed their program and are stranded abroad may also be eligible to apply.
Under this Financial Aid, students would be paid for a maximum period of 2 month, in relation to the stipend rates set by the ministry. Eligible students will get a daily allowance corresponding to living allowance for their country of study, but will be capped at USD 50 per day.
